Mission: Bold and Beautiful
Chic agent Jillian Bietz reports …
Adding a lime green clutch or shocking pink flat to your ensemble will definitely take the look from drab to fab. Celebrities are bidding adieu to neutral tones and saying hello to bright, shocking hues especially in frilly frocks.
In all shapes, sizes and electric tints, this season is all about vivid colored dresses. Paired down with demure flats or dressed up with a sky-high stilettos, the look is elegant and classy but with a fresh, vibrant twist no matter what your style.
Leighton Meester adds a classy touch to her drapey cobalt blue dress with minimal jewelry, matching white clutch and shoes.

Jennifer Love Hewitt looks fresh-faced and aptly sunny with a high ponytail sporting a yellow, tea party appropriate cocktail dress.

Kate Bosworth adds a fashion-forward edge to her purple sweater dress by way of leggings and funky heels.

To make sure your look is as brilliant as these stars, go for bold and beautiful when selecting a brightly-colored dress, like these:

Mission: Eye Spy Fabulous Frames
Chic agent Jillian Bietz reports …
As April showers turn into May flowers, and the sun lingers into the evening, a pair of stylish sunglasses are necessary to protect your eyes from the burning rays of the sun. Year round, great sunglasses are must-haves for celebrities. While “hiding” from the paparazzi, running errands after a long night out or even attending a fashion show, sunglasses are omnipresent on most famous faces.
In true celeb style, a sunglasses’ fashion factor appears to reign second to their original purpose; you know, a little thing called UV ray sun protection? For these stars, choosing between the Prada wrap-arounds or tortoise shell Chloe’s is as simple as deciding what kind of sandwich they’d like for lunch. For most people, a $400 pair of sunglasses isn’t a realistic purchase, nor should it be. Fabulous shades shouldn’t be a major investment. Here are some celebrity inspired options —just a few of the many variations under the sun. You too, can achieve “the look” without spending your whole paycheck.!
Check out Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sporting oversized sunglasses …

The bicoastal twins are rarely seen without large designer lenses shielding their faces. In late February, MK and A adventured to Paris fashion week wearing, of course, their signature shades, even at indoor events! Both girls attended the Chanel show where they sat front row schmoozing with designer Karl Lagerfeld, aptly donning large vintage Chanel frames. And though Mary-Kate attended the Giambattista Valli show the previous evening wearing the same rounded pair, she isn’t afraid to mix it up. In fact, she was seen wearing three different pairs in one day. With three different, successful fashion labels (two of which have acquired celebrity fans); let’s hope a sunglass line is in the works.

Steal the look of Rachel Bilson, one of Hollywood’s hippest fashionistas …

Often mixing vintage pieces with couture, the actress is a regular on “best dressed” lists and is designer Zac Posen’s muse. And soon, Rachel will turn her flair for fashion into a career endeavor. Teaming up with DKNY, her sportswear collection, Edie Rose, will debut in stores this September. But Rachel is always ahead of the curve when it comes to sporting the trendiest looks in eyewear. Though she wears aviators and opaque oversized lenses too, the variation she favors the most is the Ray-Ban wayfarer, a shape that came back into the limelight last year, in colors like red, black, white, and tortoise shell. Rachel knows her glasses are no risky business!

Look at new mom Nicole Richie, though busy, her style continues to thrive …

Though many admire Nicole’s stylish wardrobe that skyrocketed the former fashion victim to fashion icon status, she is mostly known for the bug-eyed, oversized sunglasses she frequently wears. And as a trendsetter, Nicole loves to test the waters. Her accessory of choice would be no exception! Recently, Nicole was seen sporting a new style of heart-shaped shades. Youthful and quirky, heart-shaped sunglasses are a great way to add a fun twist to an outfit. And, unless your ensemble consists of pastel overalls, pigtails and candy necklaces, you won’t look silly, just stylish.

Colors On the Carpet: The Oscars

The epitome of Hollywood glitz and glamour — the highly anticipated Academy Awards show — aired last night, concluding the 2007-2008 season. And while the iconic, little golden statue may have been the insignia of the Oscar’s for nearly a century, it’s the celebrities who grace the red carpet posing in their couture creations that we never miss the opportunity to dish about! And last night, the 80th Annual Academy Awards show did not disappoint. Here are a few of the best dressed nominees and attendees of the night.
Baby Got Black:

While their dresses may not be “little black dress” material, stars like Nicole Kidman, Hilary Swank and Ellen Page welcomed the red carpet to the dark side. Yet it was Jennifer Garner who prevailed with the trend, donning a dark hued Oscar de la Renta gown — with lovely details of ruffles and lace at the hem, Mrs. Affleck was a stunner.
Emerald Elation:

Leading lady Amy Adams stunned in an emerald green, fishtail Proenza Schouler gown. With her wavy tresses and adorable gold, vintage-styled evening bag, she was the essence of enchanting in an adorable “only a Disney fan would think of” way, Amy vaguely resembled another green tailed, redheaded princess; going for the “Ariel goes to Hollywood look” perhaps?
Ladies in Red:

Walking the carpet in gorgeous red gowns, stars such as Katherine Heigel, Anne Hathaway and Heidi Klum channeled old Hollywood in the most glam of colors. While many questioned the teen queens attendance, Miley Cyrus looked fabulous in a bright red Valentino dress. With its sweetheart neckline, cap sleeves and the adorable bow tie in back, Miley certainly surpassed the little red riding hood effect.
Champagne Chic:

In a Nina Ricci champagne colored ball gown, Keri Russell gracefully illuminated the rainy afternoon. Though the dress’s corset top was fitted and neat and its bottom abundant, Keri proved a very elegant Grace Kelly-like ensemble.
Pretty in Pink:
Though she is known for her funky, daring picks when it comes to red carpet attire, Cameron Diaz looked positively regal in Dior by John Galliano frothy pink gown. The gown’s layers were youthful and the light creamy pink gave Cameron a classic yet fresh look for the red carpet.
Plum Perfection:

Due to deliver her baby in the spring, Jessica Alba dazzled in a plum Marchesa gown. Not only did the royal color suit her wonderfully, her trendy braided hairdo was the perfect addition for her princess maiden ensemble.

On-Screen Style: Ugly Betty’s Amanda
TV Show: Ugly Betty
Character: Amanda Tanen
Her name is not Betty — and she’s certainly not ugly — Mode magazine’s gossipy receptionist Amanda Tanen on Ugly Betty, played by the hilarious Becki Newton, is easily the chicest gal at Mode and the entire Ugly Betty cast.

Plaid belted dress, $59 at forever21.com.
Though Amanda’s dim-witted antics and equally naughty BFF Marc, her stylish partner in crime, have paved the way for quite a few mishaps (like her inclination to snack under stress or the infamous spectacle in which she sang a glass-shattering version of “Milkshake” in a wedding chapel), she is never without a gorgeous outfit — no mismatched blouses, nerdy neon braces or Guadalajara ponchos for this fashionista.

Lux Trompe L’Oeil tank with vest, $19.99 at urbanoutfitters.com.

Bell-sleeve shirt, $22.80 at forever21.com.
Despite the fact she works at one of the most fashionable locales in New York City, Amanda always receives attention for her runway ready looks. And though she favors more classic pieces such as slim skirts, crisp white blouses and narrow belts, she’ll add a trendy or unconventional detail to her getup, such as a pair of knee socks, menswear inspired waistcoat or striped necktie to put a funky spin on her stylish receptionist attire.
With just the right pieces in your wardrobe — like the ones pictured — you too can achieve Amanda’s fashion forward style.

Clean pencil skirt, $39.50 at gap.com.
