Splurge or Save: Rugby Anyone?

By Jenn Kennedy

The sport of rugby was invented in the 1820s at Rugby High School in England. Some 50 years later, the sport became so popular in private academies and universities, that leagues formed and the development of the shirt, with distinctive school colors began to unfold.

Ralph Lauren launched a line of traditional rugby clothing in 2004. They have a few stores nationwide or you can order online. The site tells the history of the shirt (and the sport) and gives the anatomy of the traditional rugby shirt. They also have a cool online feature where shoppers build a rugby shirt, choosing colors, patches and placement of the patches.

Splurge or Save: Silver Pendant

By Jenn Kennedy

So every year during my Sundance festivities, I carve out some time to shop. One store in particular, Mary Jane’s on Main Street, always has dozens of prize finds — hats, headbands, boots and one of my personal favorite weaknesses, jewelry!

This year I discovered an amazing jewelry designer, Rebekah Abrams, who offers simple, modern designs that remind me of the Gehry Collection at Tiffany.

Splurge or Save: Cell Phone Case

By Jenn Kennedy

So, I’m heading out for a night at a bar and don’t want to take my entire purse. However, I also don’t want the bulge of my Blackberry in the back of my jeans pocket. I started looking around for some stylish options to carry my phone and found two to fit any budget.

I love Japanese design, and this is no exception. It’s both cool and functional. It holds your cell so you can either drop it into your purse, where the screen is protected from being scratched, or you can clip it to your pocket or belt. It’s the most stylish option I’ve seen that would accommodate the size of Blackberry. They also make key holders in the same dense knitted wool, which come in six modern, pleasing color combinations including gray/green, violet/blue and saffron/gray (pictured with clip).
